| The Annual Lake District Airshow held over Lake Windermere will take place in July Organised by the Rotary Club of Windermere and supported by the RAF The Airshow 2008 will be a spectacular event with more air displays and ground attractions than ever before. We do not have the flying times yet but on Saturday 26th July we expect the Battle of Britain Flight featuring a Spitfire and a Dakota aircraft. The RAF Search and Rescue Wessex Helicopter and the Great North Air Ambulance will also be on show, while the main feature will be an aerobatic display by the Yakovlevs Formation Display Team; a group of 4 Aircraft.
On Sunday 27th July the Yakovlevs will be doing their spectacular display again, and there will also be a display by a Hawk Jet Aircraft. The other main event on Sunday will be the RAF Falcons Parachute Formation Team, while the helicopters will again be on hand. On the ground the main attraction over both days is The Earl of Loudoun's Regiment of Foote, a group of enthusiasts replicating battles from the 17th Century Civil 20war.
We also have the Silverband Falcons hunting birds display, as well as the Lakeland Mountain Rescue Dogs performance. There are many other attractions including children’s train rides, Taylor’s Fair, bouncy castle, sideshows, two bands, the Harley Motor Cycle Chapter and vintage military vehicle display. The RAF, The Royal Navy, and The British Army are setting up a Military Village with lots of attractions including mock up aircraft and a Climbing Wall.
So, welcome to the RAF, the Royal Navy and the Army! We would also like to welcome all the other contributors to the weekend, from falcons and dogs to the climbing wall, the steam train and the bands which will entertain you between the flying displays, not forgetting all the bouncy castles and other attractions on the Glebe and the Entertainment Arena.
Unfortunately the show will not have the display by the Red Arrows who have shows elsewhere. |
