| Bowness on Windermere considered to be with Windermere Village the focal point of tourist Lake District enjoyed back in the 1850’s with the arrival of the railways to Windermere bringing wealthy industrialists from the north of England and then later the UK. The towns origins do go back to the 13th Century with the St Martin’s church is a current reminder of those days
The lake Dominates Bowness with the ferry terminal and various tourist activities grown up around this area, the town offers many tourist shops restaurants and public houses.
Bowness boast the Beatrix Potter Museum and the Steamboat museum depicting times gone by many walks eminate from Bowness taking in the wonderful scnery around the lake and fells nearby.
A number of events are run each year by the local rotary society and other organisations including the annual airshow which attracts large visitors.
