Plans to film dramatic Coronation Street scenes in the Lake District have been axed due to cost-cutting the producers have announced.



Producers had originally decided to film in the Lake District for a new plot which will see Weatherfield favourite Liam Connor, played by Rob James-Collier, murdered in mysterious circumstances.



The filming will now take place in Manchester to minimise costs.
