| Cartmel Races Saturday, 24th May 2008 - Wednesday, 28th May 2008 Discover the unique atmosphere of Cartmel and experience horse racing in the picturesque setting of the Lake District.
The course at Cartmel is a left handed oval of about one mile one furlong, which is bisected by the finishing straight. The run in at just over four furlongs is the longest in the country, and with the tight nature of the bends, undulating contours and carnival atmosphere all around, races at Cartmel are quite interesting, and it is well worth noting that some horses run particularly well at Cartmel and often win here and nowhere else.
Although racing currently takes place on six days of the year, the event is always well attended. Racing becomes very competitive and the activity around the bookmakers and in the betting ring can be quite frantic at times
