The long awaited approval for the £30m revamp of Carlisle airport as finally had the go-ahead. The project by Stobbart's the trucking and distrubution company will include a new runway capable of handling jet aircraft, new terminal and air traffic control tower, with up to 22,000 flights expected per year this will allow the tourism industry in the Lake District to expand Cumbria and the lake district effectively having its own airport.
